Scrolling, Scheduling, and Staying Sane: A Day in My Digital Life
Scrolling, Scheduling, and Staying Sane: A Day in My
Digital Life
If you’re anything like me, your day probably starts with a quick scroll through your phone. It’s wild how digital media weaves into almost every part of our lives whether it be work, relationships, even how we unwind. I never really thought about how much time I spend online until I started paying attention… and wow, it definitely adds up once you really start to think about it!
Work Mode: Where Teams and Outlook Rule the Day
Since I work in Human Resources, my workday basically revolves around Microsoft Teams and Outlook. I live in those apps. They’re how I schedule meetings, communicate with staff, and keep everything and everyone running smoothly. It’s not the flashiest part of my digital life, but I think its important to highlight because people don't usually think about those forms of media when they think about the different forms of they use on a daily basis. I know they are the ones that keeps me productive and sane. There’s something satisfying about staying organized and connected, even if my inbox doesn’t always return the favor.
That said, I’ll admit: sometimes it can be a lot. There are days when the notifications, messages, and deadlines feel never-ending and can definitely get stressful, especially when you’re juggling multiple priorities or troubleshooting problems in real time. Still, I remind myself that these tools make my job easier and help me communicate efficiently. At the end of the day it’s all about balance.
Break Time: Instagram and Real-Life Moments
When I take a break from work, I usually hop on Instagram for a little scroll. I’m not a heavy poster, I mostly use Stories to share gym progress, random funny moments, or time spent with my boyfriend and our dog. My main feed gets updated every few months, kind of like a mini life update. What I love about Instagram is how it lets me share small parts of my world without having to be “on” all the time. I get to choose what I want to share with people. It’s just a highlight reel of things that make me happy. I genuinely enjoy my interactions on social media. They’re lighthearted, positive, and fun.
Evening Wind-Down: The TikTok Scroll
By the end of the day, you’ll usually find me on TikTok. I try to keep my screen time to about an hour total, which feels like five minutes in TikTok time. I don’t post much myself, I love a good draft that will never see the light of day, but I love scrolling through content that makes me laugh or gives me new workout ideas. There’s something addictive about the diverse content you can view on that app.
How Digital Media Shapes Marketing and Me
As someone studying Business Administration, I can’t help but notice how digital media has completely transformed marketing. It’s not just about flashy ads anymore, it’s about connection. Brands that stand out are the ones that feel human, relatable, and authentic. On TikTok and Instagram, I see how storytelling and personality have replaced traditional sales pitches. The best marketing feels like a genuine conversation, not a commercial.
And honestly? That’s something I try to apply to my own life and career, too. Whether it’s through work, school, or social media, the best “personal brand” anyone can have is just being real, consistent, kind, and authentic. So yeah, my days are a mix of emails, gym selfies, and the occasional TikTok binge, but that’s real life. Digital media keeps me connected and creative, even if it gets a little stressful sometimes. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between productivity and presence, and making the most of the scroll.
